Business Grades compare to Consumer Grades Computers

Based on my years of experience servicing and reselling computers, I realized that most of our clients are not aware there's business grades and consumer grades computers. Let me summarized some of the major differences among the commercial grades ( business grades ) and consumer grades computers.

Pricing : You might aware that you're getting a two different pricing for a similar brand, similar specifications from two different seller, and most will choose the cheaper one. However, you might take a look whether the computers being quoted is the business grades or consumers grades. Generally with the similar specifications, the business grades computers might be slightly higher compare to the consumer grades computers. Most of the buyers will only looking at general specifications, which are the processor, memory, storage. However, generally business grades computers have some different features for example the security feature from the BIOS level, which cannot be replaced with the operating system. In this case, the business grades computers might have higher pricing compare to similar specifications / range of consumer grades computers.

Operating Systems : Almost every business grades / commercial grades computers comes with the Windows 10 Professional license while the consumer series of computers comes with the Windows 10 Home License. For more information on the Windows Edition, may read another of the post from here.

Durability : Generally, business grades computers built for longer terms used compare to consumer grades computers in terms of quality and durability. Most of the business grades computers comes with the 3 years warranty and can be extended to 5 years of warranty. However, most consumer grades computers only comes with 1-2 years of warranty and generally  might be able to be extended to 3 years the maximum.

Graphic Cards : Based on the current market, most of the business grades computers comes with the integrated Intel Graphic Card except for the business grades workstation / mobile workstations or some customize model. I personally guess the reason behind is most of the office are using the computers more on document processing, email and net surfing except for the graphic design firm or video editing or engineering firm which might required better graphic processing power might required the better graphic card. While among the consumer series, there's many vendor producing the consumer computers with good graphic card specifications, especially the gaming series computers, example ROG from Asus, Alieneware from Dell, Predator from Acer.
